my one year old
43/366
And this is the very last photo of my one year old boy.
Dear Theo,
You are one. For one more day.
You are this tiny little person, only ONE. It sounds so young, so new. Just one.
I find it utterly unbelievable that at just one you are so very much you.
So very gentle and sweet. So very wild & rough.
I am in awe that you’ve already mastered articulating your desire.
That you know what you want, and you know how to get it.
You gently place your big hand on mine each evening and say “Mulk. Bed. Me”
You wake in the morning, eyes dancing and say “Out. Dere. Play. Me”
In parenting you I feel love so deep and aching.
Paralleled by a feeling of failure so deep and aching.
You are a wonder to me.
A constant surprise and mystery.
A challenge, changing, growing, difficult.
A treasure, smiling, soft & sweet.
I like you. Exactly as you are.
I love you. Always as you are.

So many beautiful thoughts! Being a parent can be really challenging…

NOM.
And this is why I deserve to sleep in every day of the year and be fed chocolate and rainbows.

Congratulations on having a truly beautiful baby and being an amazing mother! I can’t believe Theo is two either, as I started following your blog right after he was born! You have a gift of putting such deep feeling into beautiful words and I love reading those words day after day…thank you for sharing them with us.

That’s crazy, isn’t it? Two years went by in such a flash! I feel so lonely without a baby! Snuggle that Riggs close as possible, he’ll be this big any second now! xx

I just cried forever reading that. So sweet, Georgia!

I was basically going to say what your husband said! Hah! I said “oww” instantly when I saw those teeth in this photo and thought about the fact you still breast feed him…. I admire you.

Haha Jackie. Yes, he does have razor teeth. Seriously? Why are his teeth so razor like? I don’t know but they are SHARP. Breastfeeding is still going really well and while he did test out biting me for a while there (around the one year mark) he’s settled into a good latch and never bites. There is no way I’d let that little razor mouth near my boob if he did!

Such beautiful words, Georgia!

He’s a baby shark… you’re raising a shark. A cute one, so it’s fine. But a shark nonetheless!
